This
is outrageous. Since SB 68 solves no problems and costs the state
money, Senator Stivers from Manchester decided it would only pass his committe if
he allowed no debate, no hearings and no discussion. So that's what he
did. SB68 is a bad bill. Children deserve to be placed in homes
with parents that can provide a loving home whether or not that's OK with Senator Tapp's preacher.
Here is Fairness' Alert on the Issue
BREAKING NEWS
On Thursday, March 5, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Sen. Stivers called a surprise meeting to hear Senate Bill 68 – the anti-gay adoption bill.
Outrageously,
the Committee passed the bill favorably after hearing testimony only
from the bill's sponsor, Sen. Tapp, and a representative of the Family
Foundation.
Opposition
is mounting against this mean-spirited bill from across the
Commonwealth. Groups speaking out against Senate Bill 68 include the
Kentucky Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers,
Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, the Kentucky Commission on Human
Rights, Big Sandy Foster & Adoption Association, and many more.
